Denis Darzacq - Hyper

Click here to see Darzacq's 'Hyper'. It is a series of photographs taken of dancers, breakers, gymnasts in supermarkets. They are suspended in a moment in time, not by wire at all, his ability to capture them in mid-air is genius. While this is not as gritty as the 'Chute' series, which made me fall in love all over again with dance photography, it's certainly worth a look.

Tottenham Banksy perspexed

Banksy in my 'hood. Does this mean my property value will increase? Interesting that he's come all the way up to Zone 3 on the Victoria Line. Was he on his way to a Spurs game? Is he marking the next wave of trendster London migration in search of cheap housing, inexpensive warehouses and true grit?

Haringey Council wasted no time in getting the perspex up.

Duke wears Galliano S/S 10

SDC12053

Taken at SHOWstudio.com's exhibition at Somerset House. It's a bit fuzzy/soft in the focus, but I love the way the light falls on his face. The quilt patchwork makes me think of Americana, but in fact Duke is wearing one of John Galliano's designs for Spring/Summer 2010.

There's a timelessness about this portrait - like this could have been taken in 1859 in the wild west, as much as it was taken in 2009 in London.

Dionne Bromfield - Foolish Little Girl

Amy Winehouse has officially launched her own record label Lionness Records. Dionne Bromfield is the label's first offering. She's Amy's goddaughter and she's 13. I'm still not sure what I think of this track, but it does encapsulate a certain nostalgic North London sound and it's a catchy tune. What do you think?

Click on this link for the Foolish Little Girl video.

I did have it embedded in this blog earlier, however, perhaps Amy's record label freaked out about sharing content. *Sigh*

On/Off London Fashion Week

This is a photo of an installation at the On/Off space at London Fashion Week. Two ceramic life-size bull dogs watching pixelated images on a wall to ceiling screen. 180 The Strand It was my favourite space, it housed not only the Ethical Fashion folks but also On/Off, which is the platform for many Indie designers. The vibe is a whole lot edgier than Somerset House and it feels more like an art gallery and less like a trade show.

The collaboration with Katya Moorman in New York is coming along nicely. I like writing for Style Defined NYC's blog as the'London correspondent' I get to see a side to style which I don't normally have access to. I was reporting on London Fashion Week and the stint came to and end today. I've got the battle scars to prove it: four blisters and possibly a sprained toe from running in tall heels.

I'm going to continue to collaborate with Katya at Style Defined NYC and share the best images of the week with you here on The Flipchick.
